Subject:
Kidnap, torture and imprisonment without charge of Baloch students and
political activists in Pakistan
Dear Sir,
I wish to
draw your attention towards the arrest, kidnap and illegal detention of
Baloch students and political workers and leaders by Pakistani police
and intelligence agencies in Pakistan. After severe mental and physical
torture, they are killed or kept in secret detention centers with no
access to legal representation or family visits. .Judiciary seems to be
indifferent and human right organizations helpless in this regard.
On 25 March, 2005 students and political activists Dr. Imdad Baloch (chairman
of Baloch Students Organization or BSO), Dr. Allah Nazar (former
Chairman of BSO), Dr. Yousuf (Press Secretary of BSO), Ghulam Rasool (member
Central Committee of BSO), Dr. Naseem (ex- member Central Committee of
BSO), AIi Nawaz and Akhtar Nadeem were detained and taken to secret
torture cells and severely tortured continuously for three to five
months.
Dr. Imdad
Baloch and his three comrades were surfaced from Dera Ghazi Khan (being
charged .with fake cases of theft) and then released. While Dr. Allah
Nazar, Ali Nawaz and Akhtar Nadeem were surfaced after five months from
Sadiq Abad, Punjab (being charged with same sort of fake cases) and are
still in custody of Balochistan police.
Dr. Allah
Nazar's is paralyzed as the result of severe physical and mental torture
and is presently kept in Jail Ward, Civil Hospital, Quetta, Balochistan,
but deprived from appropriate medical treatment.
Ali Asghar Bangulzai, a tailor master, was kidnapped with his cousin
Mohammad Iqbal on 18th October, 2001, near Saryab Road, Quetta. Mohammad
Iqbal was released after 22 days but the whereabouts of Ali Asghar
Bangulzai are still unknown, even after more than 5 years. Bangulzai
children and relatives are on continuous protest in front or Quetta
press club since last few months.
Gwahram Baloch s/o Saleh Mohammad was abducted on 8th August, 2004 when
he was on his way from his native village Mand to Gwadar; he is still
missing. Recently, on 22"d September 2005, his younger brother, Abid
Saleh, was also kidnapped. Moreover, it has been more than two years of
the abduction of Hafiz Saeed ur Rehman Bangulzai that his whereabouts
are unknown.
On August 2005 fourteen young members of BSO were arrested in Turbat
during a peaceful demonstration, and are still under illegal detention
of Turbat police.
The above
mentioned cases are few among many to urge the Chairman of Baloch
Students Organization and many other activists to set on hunger strike.
Their demands are to release;
- Dr. Allah
Nazar,
- Ali Nawaz,
- Akhtar
Nadeem,
- Ali Asghar
Bangulzai,
- Hafeez
Saeed ur Rehman Bangulzai,
- Abid
Saleh,
- Gwahram
Saleh,
- Haji Jan
Mohammad Marri,
- Fourteen
members of BSO in Turbat, Balochistan police custody.
As you always have been voicing
for respect to human rights through out the world; I as a Baloch British
citizen appeal to you to put diplomatic pressure on Pakistani
establishment to release above detainees and stop further victimization
of Baloch students and political workers.
Yours
sincerely
Walid Garboni
